Squad 816-1 is a specialty resource vehicle also licensed as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance. The Squad carries mass-casualty (MCI) equipment, additional protective gear for rescue personnel, additional medical supplies (extra long back boards, cardiac monitors, oxygen, etc.), fire ground rehab gear, and bariatric-assisting equipment.

 

This vehicle, lettered “Special Operations,” is the vehicle you see responding to a structure fire, mass casualty incident, water rescue, or to a standby event. Occasionally, because of its dual licensure, the Squad will be used for emergency medical responses.

 

This vehicle is stationed at our headquarters building in South Fayette Township.
