Water Rescue Unit

Outfitted from head to toe and riding on jet skis equipped with rescue devices, SouthBridge personnel can leave the shore and brave the water’s currents to reach a victim in need.

A complicated rescue can take a considerable amount of time, so it is imperative to begin treating the victim as soon as possible.  SouthBridge rescue personnel are certified as Paramedics and EMTs, therefore, they can initiate Advanced Life Support (ALS) care as soon as they reach their patient.

Why SouthBridge for Water Rescue?

When flooding caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan damaged streets, homes, and businesses in September 2004, all SouthBridge medics could do was watch from the sidelines. As rising waters became deep and swift, personnel from many agencies lacked training and equipment to perform many of the rescues needed. To be better prepared for similar events, SouthBridge EMS sought support from local government and local companies for the funds necessary to provide training and equipment for water rescues.  SouthBridge Water Rescue is another service available to our communities and to surrounding communities.
